Practical and Emotional Support (Liverpool in General) - VCL 062 Macmillan

Providing practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer. Activities could include helping with daily activities such as shopping, gardening and housework. Emotional support such as listening, talkign and providing support. This role involves working unsupervised in the community. Support is available from local Macmillan staff and you'll receive an induction and training, plus access to our lone worker personal safety system. Volunteers aged 18+

 

Neuro Buddy/Dining Companion (L9) - VCL 209 The Walton CentreSometimes patients may not have any relatives or they are unable to visit them during their stay in hospital. Volunteers are needed to act as a companion for them by either simply listening or having a conversation. Activities may include helping a patient feel at ease, engaging in activity games, wiping of table before meals, opening food packaging etc. Volunteers are NOT to feed a patient at ANY time.

 

Support Volunteer - Volunteer Development Team (L33) - North West Air Ambulance Charity

Based in the Knowsley office, support volunteers can help the charity in a range of ways from supporting the team with their admin needs, helping to run specific campaigns, selling and processing prize draw tickets to working on one off projects and campaigns. Looking for a friendly and passionate volunteer who has excellent interpersonal skills and an engaging attitude. Training will be provided for technical aspects of the role.

 

Marie Curie Helper (Liverpool) - VCL 107

As a helper volunteer you will be matched with a person affected by a terminal illness who you will visit in their home or by telephone. You can offer your time any day between 9:00am and 9:00pm so you can find a time that suits you. No previous experience ncssary and youll be provided with extensive training and support as well as expenses. Looking for volunteers who can commit to at least three hours per week.

 

Helpline Assistant (Home based)  - VCL 884 Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association

To support the service offered by the PSPA Helpline and information service by handling calls to the line during evening hours (7pm-9pm) providing information and emotional support for people affected by the PSP and CBD. Volunteers who are good listeners and communications and able to turn up to locations on time to meet clients. Minimum commitment of 3 hours monthly.

 

Hand, Arm and Shoulder Massage (Merseyside) - VCL 016 British Red Cross

Volunteers will be trained to offer a range of treatments that include hand, arm, neck and shoulder massage given through clothing. The massage will either be 10 to 20 minutes long and can be delivered in a variety of settings with the support of a Red Cross Coordinator. You will be offering time to listen as well as promoting a sense of well being. Full training can be given. DBS check required.

 

MS Support Volunteer (Liverpool) - VCL 438 MS Society

As a support volunteer you will reduce the isolation of people affected by MS by providing emotional support on the telephone, visiting people in the residential care or who are isolated at home, and directing people to branch activities and other relevant services in the local area. Looking for volunteers with good listening and interpersonal skills, willingness to work as part of the team and ability to respect a diversity of views and attiudes. Volunteers aged 18+.

 

Hospital and Housebound Visitors (Liverpool) -  VCL 645 Royal British Legion

Looking out for ex service men and those who are either housebound or in hospital and have no contact with the outside world. Spend a couple of hours a day with them such as joining them for a friendly chat and a cup of tea whilst letting them know how the Legion can better support them. Volunteers aged 18+.

 

Volunteer Complementary Therapist (L17) - VCL 677 Sunflower Cancer Support Centre

Sunflowers Cancer Support Centre is excited to b able to offer complementary therapists the opportunity to broaden experience and develop further skills. Looking for volunteers who have experience of therapies such as Reiki, Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Hot Stone Massages. Looking for volunteers 18+ who have availability on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings.

 

Fundraising Mascot (L7) - VCL 985 R Charity

Looking for a volunteer of medium build and 5ft2+ in height to act as R Charity mascot Roy of the Royal. The mascot consists of trousers, top, gloves and head. Roy can be worn from 20 minutes up to 2 hours depending on event. Takes place at Royal Liverpool Hospital. Must be warm, friendly and have an outgoing personality.
