Volunteer at The Twilight Walk Chester on 1st October 2017

The Twilight Walk is a 10K walk on the 1st October 2017 around the historic centre of Chester, with the purpose of uniting our community, raising awareness and raising vital funds.

There are many different ways that volunteers can get involved in the event. The role that we need the highest number of volunteers for is the Route Steward role. This role is a fantastic role to do with friends, familiy or even in a group.

Role Summary:

Our wonderful Route Stewards cheer on, support and motivate our walkers throughout The Twilight Walk route and help us to create an exciting, energetic and enjoyable walking experience. Working as a team with our Section Leaders (staff), they ensure that our walkers are safe and looked after throughout the walk.

Our Route Stewards are a key part of the success of The Twilight Walk and we love to hear from our walkers about how fantastic our route stewards are: “The volunteers/stewards were great, and I am sure quite hoarse after all the cheering and support they gave us. It could not have been better.“

Being a Route Steward is great for those interested in volunteering outdoors, volunteering with friends/family/colleagues and for those that want to see The Twilight Walks in action! Want to join our Route Steward team? Sign up today!

Please note: This role is based outdoors and requires volunteers to stand for long periods of time.

Our other volunteering roles for the event are listed here:

Sign up to volunteer at the Alzheimers Society Memory Walk

                                                        this October

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

There is a Memory Walk happening  on 14 October 2017 at the Pier Head.

Volunteers will be needed between 18.00 and 23.00.

There ere are many ways you can help as a volunteer at this event:

Route Volunteers

Marshalling: You will be positioned at key points in the route to ensure walkers are heading in the right direction, as well as cheering them on and keeping them motivated!

Route Marking: You will head out with a rucksack and equipment (everything is provided) to put up signs and ensure they are in the correct place. If you are our back route marker you will follow the last of our walkers and inform our marshals that they can return to the event site.

Walk Village Volunteers

At the finish line: We need energetic volunteers to congratulate our walkers as they cross the finish line and present them with their medals and water!

Event setup and breakdown: Help setup the event site and take everything down at the end of the day. A keen eye for detail is great for this to make sure the event site looks the part!

Walk Village team: Enthusiastic volunteers interact with our walkers before and after the walk. This will include selling our merchandise. You'll also help to keep the event site clean and tidy, ensuring everyone is safe at the event.
