Alzheimers Society Merseyside  at the Rock an Roll Marathon

This is a one day volunteering opportunity at the Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon on the morning of 20 May 2018. Exact timings will be confirmed with you nearer the time, but we would appreciate whatever time you can give.

We need volunteers to provide support at the Alzheimer’s Society cheer point to our 180 runners who are set to raise an incredible £73,000. 

Volunteers are so important to ensuring our runners have the best experience possible, which in turn helps them reach and exceed this ambitious target; we couldn’t do it without you! We want all of our runners to feel the charity’s appreciation for their hard work

MACMILLAN Cancer Support at the Rock and Roll Marathon

Join us for an experience like no other…volunteer at the Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon! With over 150 runners taking part to raise funds for Macmillan’s local cancer services, we need your help to cheer them on, and thank them for their incredible support.

Wine Assistants wanted at the Tall Ships Event 25 May to 28 May 2018

The international fleet of Tall Ships makes a triumphant return to the Mersey over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. The Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta will link Liverpool, Dublin and Bordeaux through four days of maritime magic.

This is the fifth time Liverpool has hosted these historic vessels in the past three decades, and during Capital of Culture year an estimated million people packed the banks of the river to catch a glimpse of the parade of sail.
From Friday 25 – Monday 28 May 2018, the city will be transformed in to three cultural festivals reflecting the pre-historic environment when Liverpool, Ireland and France were connected by ice sheets and land bridges enabling hunter gatherer societies to migrate freely and share arts, culture, religion and mythologies.

Spectacular artistic commissions will explore the impact of these pre-Ice Age connections with theatre, performance, exhibitions and music animating three city areas to reflect the three race ports – The Pier Head (Bordeaux), the Albert Dock (Ireland) and Liverpool City Centre (Liverpool).

Wine School Assistants will assist with the running of the wine school sessions throughout the day – will include pouring wine, collecting glasses etc.
All volunteers will be registered via the City Stars database.

SKILLS

Good People / Communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Experience of serving wine would be desirable
• Knowledge of wine would be useful
Bordeaux Wine Sommeliers will provide guidance

8 volunteers required per day between 7.00pm – 10.00pm 

Volunteers are asked to wear:

White shirt or blouse
Black trousers or skirt Comfortable shoes

YOU WILL BE
• Welcoming performers onto site
• Setting up visual design and props
• Help all performance run smoothly
• Getting them settled into their performance area with their props
• Answering queries as they come up
• Ensuring that the green room is tidied and refreshments are replenished
• To act as a runner for the event staff

 SKILLS:

Good People / Communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Knowledge of the event (info pack will be provided beforehand)
• Artist Liaison and Support volunteers must be capable of moving around a performance area easily and able to get involved in some light lifting (tables/chairs/props) where required.

                Whitechapel Centre Fundraising - Collection Can Champion

  Fundraising is a vital part of our work and underpins all that we do. Collection cans placed in locations around Merseyside can generate income when we need it most and we’d like to expand this aspect of our fundraising activity.

This role can be done in your own time in an area of Merseyside that suits you. All you have to do is:
  • find places that will host collection cans;
  • put the cans in place with relevant publicity material – such as our telephone line cards;
  • collect and replace the cans when they get full;
  • give the full cans into The Whitechapel Centre to be counted.
We are looking for collection can champions who have:
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • An understanding of The Whitechapel Centre and the work that we do (we can help you with this!)
  • Enthusiasm
  • Good organisational skills
  • Initiative

Come and join in the fun at the Albert Dock and support Claire House Children’s Hospice at the Sporting Bears event!

 Showing casing some of the best Classic and Sport cars, Claire House have been invited along again this year to help support the event and raise lots of money!

We need volunteers on either Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd June 2018 9.30am till 4pm and there is the option of doing a morning or afternoon slot.

 

Tasks involve bucket collections and the following:

              A small group will be doing children’s games in the tent

              A couple working with the static cars

              A couple with the F1 car (hopefully)

              A group to be Claire Bear and to accompany Claire Bear and the stay around the                 Albert Dock

              Meet and greet at the gate

              A couple with the singers on the Saturday

 

It is a fantastic opportunity for Claire House to be involved again this year and all the volunteers who have previously supported this event can tell you how much fun it is!

         Help Prostrate Cancer UK raise awareness and funds

Ater the success of Prostate Cancer UK’s March for Men walk last year, we are delighted to announce that we are holding this in more locations to help raise awareness and much-needed funds for prostate cancer research – and we urgently require volunteers to help us!

 We are looking for volunteers for our event at Croxteth Hall and Country Park, Liverpool on Sunday 10th June The duties of the role will involve marshalling, registration, set up and handing out medals.  Times are between 8.30am and 4pm, although shifts will be available.   All reasonable expenses i.e. travel will be reimbursed.

                              Be an  Africa Oye Festival Volunteer 

Would you like to be an Oyé Rep?

Each year, Africa Oyé has to work hard to keep the festival free of charge, which, as an ever-growing event, is increasingly challenging.

 

                                 That is why we need you!

Becoming an Oyé Rep gives you the opportunity to work with us to support the festival, by creating positive relations with our audiences.

The role of an Oyé Rep is to raise money by collecting donations, selling raffle tickets and handing out information about the festival, all the while engaging with our fantastic audience.

 We are asking for 2 hours of your time (or more if you would like) at the festival on Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th June 2018. You will receive a t-shirt, refreshments and be helping the festival to remain free, whilst developing new skills and meeting new people.

You will need to be 18 years or over and be able to travel to the site.

                  Fundraising Volunteer Opportunities with Claire House!

 We are looking for a couple  of volunteers to come in a couple of days (morning or afternoons) week commencing 23rd May, to help put together some raffle prizes and other things, in preparation for the Sporting Bears event on the 2/3rd June.

 Every Thurs/Fri - Sainsburys Castle Street Liverpool

Our partnership with Sainsbury’s Castle Street is continuing and so if you can pop along on a Thursday or Friday for a couple of hours to collect donation during the busy lunchtime trade and then tootle off for some retail therapy! Times 11-2pm.

  This day is guaranteed to be ‘rockin’!  We require volunteers to help with start/finish line duties, giving out medals and water.

 

Some exciting news!  Claire House have been invited by Liverpool Waters to do a number of bucket collections when the cruise ships arrive in Liverpool this year. They are expecting a big public presence as well as the arrival of lots of passengers, and so it’s a great opportunity for us to raise our profile and collect some funds at the same time. We are looking for 4 volunteers for each collection to help us make the most of this brilliant opportunity.  The dates and times are as follows.

 Tuesday 22 May  - Queen Victoria  -  8am - 10am and 4pm - 6pm

Sunday 10 June  -  Royal Princess  11am - 3pm

Tuesday 12 June  -  Celebrity Eclipse  10am - 12pm

Chester racecourse bucket collection on Saturday 16th June:

We are looking for 16 volunteers to help out with bucket collections on the day, to help us make the most out of this opportunity!  Please note that this will be inside an enclosure at the race course but will not give volunteers access to the main grounds.  It is more to collect donations as the racegoers leave and hopefully they may share some of their winnings!!!

Time: 4.30pm – 6.30pm  Location: Chester Racecourse

Help Shine raise some funds in Old Swan

Shine supports people of all ages with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Shine’s vision is of a society where all those whose lives are affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and associated conditions are empowered and enabled through choice and equality of opportunity.

Our services, offered through free membership to individuals with the conditions and their families, are literally a lifeline.  We have a national network of locally based Support and Development Workers providing one-to-one advice to individuals and families, coordinating support groups for various ages and organising local information and networking events.

Shine is looking for volunteers to give up just 2 hours of their time to help at a charity store collection at the Tesco in Old Swan on Friday 10 August 2018

The role is suitable for individuals new to volunteering, youth groups and companies plus seasoned volunteers!

Volunteers will receive full collection guidelines, a charity t-shirt and collection bucket.

       ACT Youth Project

 

Short term volunteering supporting vulnerable migrants in Greece or Italy.

Merseyside Expanding Horizon are looking to recruit 15 young people ( 18+) who are not in education, employment or training and are interested in intercultural issues to join either a 2 or six month project  ( 5 volunteers at a time from June 2017 to August 2018.) in the field of migration in Italy or Greece.

This Erasmus funded project aims to involve volunteers from France, UK and Belgium, as well as Greece and Italy supporting vulnerable migrants.

You will be provided with, flights, insurance,accomodation, food local transport and pocket money as well as being trained in:

Intercultural Communication

Fundemental Rights of Migrants

Security, Health and Safety

Reception and intergration of migrants in Greece / Italy.
