Liverpool Pride Festival 28 and 29 July 2018

Liverpool Pride is a volunteer led charity that tackles homophobia, biphobia &transphobia across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

Each year the city meets to march in a peaceful protest in honour of equality and diversity. Following this there is live music and entertainment from big names and local acts. The aim of the festival is to raise awareness of continuous hate crime towards the LGBT community, but to encourage change and acceptance for diversity and difference.
We are especially looking for young volunteers 18-25 to get involved, but over 25’s are more than welcome to volunteer too. You don’t have to be LGBT+ to volunteer either, we are looking for allies and people who want to gain experience.

There are many different ways to get involved

Some volunteers may want to just help out here and there, some may want to go on to fundraise all year round, and others just join us for the big day itself. We understand people may have other commitments or may have particular interests so what time you can and want to offer is very much appreciated. Every bit of help goes a long way and makes a difference!

  • We need people to help with fundraising and merchandise sales in the run up and on the weekend of the festival.

  • We will need people to do surveys with people on the weekend to find out people’s opinions and experiences. So we will also need help with data input.

  • We will also need steward support to meet and greet people, to help people find their way around, and to curate the march.

Other opportunities that volunteers could help with would be: contacting local businesses and residents so they are aware of the event. This could even include speaking with businesses about supporting the event in some way.

Volunteers may help in promoting the event and also in recruiting more volunteers. There will also be opportunities for volunteers to get creative, organise workshops and lead their own young person’s committee.

You will be provided with an induction and training. There will be lots of different roles you can do with different experiences to gain.

There will be a number of skills that you will develop, but you will also have a lot of fun and meet new people!

Join the Marine Conservation Society's  - GREAT BRITISH BEACH CLEAN

The Great British Beach Clean is our annual event on the 3rd weekend of September. It's the biggest beach clean and survey in the UK and provides a valuable insight into the litter problems our seas and oceans are facing

We've been recording this information for over 25 years and lobbying governments to stop items getting there in the first place. With your help we've made great progress in helping to bring in a plastic bag charge, stopping microplastics in cosmetics being washed down the plug hole and getting the message out that wetwipes shouldn't be flushed or contain plastic.

With support from Waitrose and all of our fantastic volunteers, we are continuing to put pressure on Westminster and the devolved parliaments to make real changes. Whether you've been to a beach clean before, or if you want to start this year, simply sign up for the event/s you'd like to attend and look out for emails from the beach clean event organiser.

Almost 7,000 people took part in the Great British Beach Clean in September 2017 and we want to make 2018 even better. Together, we removed 255,209 pieces of litter from 339 beaches.
